Build a Care Station in One Square Foot

Field guide

Build a Care Station in One Square Foot

Choose one water-safe surface, map the tools you actually use, and leave a clear landing place for the pot.

Confirm plant-specific care and verified product instructions before use.

A care station is useful when it contains the task without claiming permanent territory in the room.

1. Pick the boundary

Choose a stable, water-resistant surface at least 12 by 12 inches. Keep it away from outlets, power strips, and the edge of a shelf.

2. Place by task order

Put plain water first, then the pot landing area, then cleanup tools. Keep chemicals out of the station.

3. Leave one pot-sized opening

A clear landing area prevents the plant from balancing on tools or cloths.

4. Reset after use

Empty standing water, wipe the surface, dry damp cloths separately, and return only clean tools.
